–>Village assist Walgreens to get COVID-19 testing started__ Update 4/15/20

The Village of Forest Park assisted Walgreens to get COVID-19 testing started last week at the former Walgreens store site at North & Mobile.  Now that the site is up and running, they have switched to an appointment based system for high priority people.

At no cost to patients, the new testing sites will utilize Abbott’s new ID NOW COVID-19 test, and will deliver positive results in as little as five minutes and negative results approximately within 13-15 minutes.  Testing is by appointment only for high priority people, as identified below.  NO DRIVE-UPS WITHOUT AN APPOINTMENT WILL BE ALLOWED

The guidelines for being tested at the site, aligns with HHS guidelines where testing is being prioritized for individuals that have symptoms and are/have:

  •       Healthcare worker with symptoms
  •       First responder with symptoms
  • 65 or older with symptoms
  • Those with pre-existing health condition with symptoms

Walgreens will also be reporting test outcomes to HHS and to IDPH so they are able to track as required.

Individuals that are interested in getting tested should go online to  www.walgreens.com/coronavirus or www.walgreens.com/findcareOnce there, they will take an online assessment and if qualified will be able to select a location and an appointment time.

In addition, today Walgreens announced they are working to expand Drive-Thru COVID-19 testing in Illinois. The expansion is a next step building on Walgreens’ collaboration with the Administration, Federal Health Agencies, and State and Local Authorities.

Walgreens is currently operating two COVID-19 testing facilities in Illinois, one in Bolingbrook and Chicago.  Click here for the addresses.

 Thank you.
