The Village of
Forest Park is more than 100 years old and is a Mainstreet
community. Madison Street is the Village’s main business
district and has undergone some massive reconstruction, which
is esthetically pleasing to the eye. Dining and entertainment
along the main strip is some of the best in the Western Suburbs.
The Village has
a rich history, which includes original cobblestone streets.
Some of the cemeteries located on the outskirts of town house
many historically famous deceased individuals. Interested
parties may tour the cemeteries to find Ernest Hemingway’s
parents, a Druid Monument, members from the Haymarket Day
riot and many other historical figures.
The Village has
an Aquatic Center located at the Park District of Forest Park,
which boasts two large water slides, a volleyball court, and
a child safe water sport area. The Park District of Forest
Park has been the site for the Midwest’s annual “No
Gloves Nationals” for many years consecutively and is
consistently chosen because of the wonderfully maintained
fields for play. Recently the park added a rink for “in-line”
skaters and a state of the art Soccer field.
Forest Park Public
Schools has four grammar schools and one middle school. The
Village is also home to Proviso Central Math and Science Academy.
There are two private parochial schools as well.
