RECREATION
BOARD
The mission of
the recreation board is to influence the maintenance, safety
and improvement of village parks and playgrounds. The board
shall design, create and implement a park and playground safety
program consisting of regular and structured inspections of
village parks and playgrounds. Inspections shall be made by
voting board members and findings logged and reported to the
full board for discussion and resolution. Where immediate
action is required, the board members shall make such report
directly to the director of public property. The board shall
act as a conduit through which residents may communicate with
the department of public property as to concerns, requests
and comments regarding the village playgrounds.

The Forest Park Dog Park is maintained, in part, by “ Friends of the Dog Park ” , a volunteer group of individuals who aid the village's public works department in helping to keep the park safe and clean. Friends of the Dog Park, founded by Ms. Jennifer Wolfe, work toward recommending dog park improvements and coordinating volunteers for various events associated with the dog park. These volunteers contribute their time and money to the dog park and are very passionate about seeing the park flourish.
Fundraising is an important role for the Friends of the Dog Park . Events such as Doggy Palooza are organized by Friends of the Dog Park and attract many folks from in and around the Forest Park area. To date they have raised several thousand dollars for improvements which include a dog friendly water fountain, enjoyed by both humans and canines, and they are working toward realizing other goals such as a shelter, additional benches, and landscaping.
The Friends of the Dog Park welcome you to join them in their mission. If you would like to donate your time, make a donation, or just have a question about Friends of the Dog Park , please write to Jennifer at dogpark@forestpark.net .
