ADMINISTRATOR

The Village Administrator’s
duties and responsibilities are established by ordinance.
The Village Administrator is the Chief Administrative Officer
of the Village of Forest Park. The Administrator is responsible
to the mayor and to the combined village council for the administration
and operation of all of the affairs and the departments of
the village. The Village Administrator possesses the administration
and control of all matters and things pertaining to the operation
and maintenance of the properties of the Village, and of all
departments of the Village. Each Department Head is responsible
to the Council and to the Administrator. A major aspect of
the Administrator’s role is to prepare the annual budget
and oversee its administration throughout the fiscal year.
This duty relates to the authority of the Administrator to
make all necessary purchases for the Village. The Administrator
is responsible for labor matters, including hiring, firing,
discipline and collective bargaining for the Village. The
Village Administrator has the privilege of taking part in
the discussion of all matters coming before the village council,
and to that end prepares all council agendas. The Village
Administrator also is empowered to investigate all complaints
in relation to matters concerning Village services and village
administration.
