    Village hall will reopen on Monday 06/01/2020. Strict social distancing measures will be in place. The lobby door will remain locked so that staff can monitor the number of people in the lobby. Face masks will be required if you intend on entering Village Hall. Hand sanitizer will be available and please use it prior to coming to the window for service. 

    Floors will be marked for the proper amount of distance between customers.

    The Village, the Park District, Forest Park School District 91, The Library, McAdam Landscaping, along with Forest Park resident and Tree City expert, Kurt Hansen spent several months planning a big Arbor Day Celebration.  We are, of course, disappointed that we will not be able to have the Arbor Day party at the Park District.  We are thrilled to announce that McAdam will still be donating the trees that we planned to plant at our Schools and at the Park District.  We will plant the official Arbor Day tree at the Park District main building on Friday morning 04/24/2020 @ 10:00 AM.  The trees to be planted at each school will take place at a date to be named in the fall

    As of Friday, March 13th, District 91 released information of plans to close schools on Monday, March 16th, out of an abundance of caution and in response to the social distancing guidance recommended by the Center for Disease Control (CDC).  Per District 91 website on 3/30, at this time, schools will remain closed through at least until Tuesday, April 14th.  District 91, along with all other districts in the Proviso Township and other surrounding districts will close to reduce the incidence of person to person spreading of COVID-19.  Click here to view the entire docu

    Effective tonight, the Village will aggressively enforce the snow route ban as heavy snowfall is anticipated throughout our region. We encourage you to put your vehicle away, however if you must remain on the street, be sure to avoid parking along a snow route. Snow routes are clearly marked along each street and are most often can be found on the side of the street with the street light poles.  If you must leave your car on the street, please contact the parking division at 708-366-7272.     Mayor Anthony Calderone received great news last week when he received notice that the Village will be the recipient of a Technical Assistance Grant via the Rivers, Trails and Conservation Assistance (RTCA) Program of the National Park Service. The grant will provide expert technical assistance in the development of a Cultural Park.

    The Village of Forest Park will host an official public forum to discuss information known about Video Gaming. This forum makes good on a promise made by Mayor Calderone and the Village Council in May of this year when, after pressured by local businesses, the subject of Video Gaming in Forest Park resurfaced. The Mayor waited until July to host the forum as one elected official was out of the country during the month of June and in the name of fairness, postponed hosting the event until the Commissioner’s return.

    Recent discussions about Video Gaming on the Council floor directed staff to coordinate a public forum with a balanced member panel to be held on a “to be determined” Saturday in the month of May. Ideally the panel would consist of respected representatives in both opposition and in favor of the gaming law. Council members identified panelists they hoped to have participate which included some members from a recent forum in Riverside, IL, and added to the list representatives from towns similar to Forest Park who both allow and prohibit video gaming.

    An aggressive and sophisticated phone scam targeting taxpayers, including recent immigrants, has been making the rounds throughout the country. Callers claim to be employees of the IRS, but are not. These con artists can sound convincing when they call. They use fake names and bogus IRS identification badge numbers. They may know a lot about their targets, and they usually alter the caller ID to make it look like the IRS is calling.  Victims are told they owe money to the IRS and it must be paid promptly through a pre-loaded debit card or wire transfer.

    The Forest Park Youth Soccer Association is preparing the league for another season this coming Spring. FPYSA's Little Kickers divison introduces the basics of soccer to boys and girls ages three to five years old. The league's team divsion includes players up through 8th grade. The 2016 Spring season will run from the second week in April through the third week in June.     Illinois Department of Transportation is analyzing traffic noise as part of the general study of I290, from west of Mannheim Road to Racine Avenue. Public forums will be held to discuss the potential installation of noise walls along the Eisenhower Expressway in conjunction with the planned roadway improvements. The project traffic noise analysis has indicated that noise levels in our area warrant the consideration of noise walls and IDOT strongly encourages local participation at the meetings. Meetings will be held at the following locations.     On September 19, 2015, the Village of Forest Park dedicated a memorial to four fallen Public Safety officers whose lives were cut short as a result of their chosen profession. The Memorial stands at Remembrance Park located at Randolph and Circle and is a fitting tribute to those individuals.     Free outdoor summer concerts.  1st one begins Tuesday, June 16th with "The Redmonds" performing.  Concert begins at 7:00 pm.  Soda, Wine, & Beer will be sold along with hotdogs and nachos however you may bring your own food and drink (no glass bottles please).

    2nd Concert:  July 21st starring "Midnight Band."

    3rd and last Concert: August 18th starring "R-Gang."

    The Forest Park Dog Park has been closed for a number of weeks due to the risk of spreading canine influenza.  Cook County Department of Animal Control still warns that caution should be used when grouping animals together as the virus can pass easily and a carrier may not show signs of infection. As such the Village will be posting the following notice upon reopening its park:

    Due to the increased risk of canine upper respiratory disease in the Chicagoland area, the Village is taking precautionary steps in temporarily closing its Dog Park to avoid transmission of this virus to our beloved pets.

    Signs and symptoms of CIV are nasal discharge, coughing (dry, similar to kennel cough), sneezing, lethargy, lack of appetite, fever and difficulty breathing that can lead to pneumonia if left untreated.

    Calling all parents! Forest Park Kiwanis has joined forces with the All American Soap Box Derby to host a Derby Day on Sat., May 9, 2015 along the Circle Avenue Bridge. Please visit here for more information or visit - There wil be three racing divisions competing. Since 1934, Soap Box Derby is a fun competitive youth racing program for boys and girls ages 8-18. It encourages close parent/child activities in constructing a soap box car and supervising their child in piloting the car.

    Thank you Forest Park for supporting the effort to erect a monument in honor of those Forest Park First Responders who have lost their lives while protecting ours.  With your help we have met the initial goal of $7,000!  But we're not done, so please keep your donations coming.

    Look for the monument's official unveiling sometime in September, 2015.  More information will be forthcoming as the plans are solidified so stay tuned.
