Brownfields Grant Assessment program Public Meetings

Community-wide meetings to discuss redevelopment of vacant properties.

The Cook County Department of Environmental Control is collaborating with seven municipalities including the Villages of Bellwood, Forest Park, Franklin Park, Maywood, Melrose Park, Northlake, and Schiller Park to conduct US EPA Brownfields Grant Assessment program activities.  The purpose of this program is to select and assess brownfields in support of redevelopment. Brownfields are abandoned or under-used industrial and commercial properties with actual or perceived contamination. These program activities can attract business to redevelop the land, which would create jobs, increase floodwater retention, and increase quality of life, among other benefits.

We invite you to attend a scheduled public meeting to learn more about the project goals and to provide your input on properties you would like to see targeted for redevelopment.

The two scheduled meetings are:

Meeting 1: Franklin Park Village Board of Trustees Meeting, August 10th at 7:00 p.m.

Meeting 2: Melrose Park Village Council Meeting, August 24th at 6:00 p.m.
